Tonight, we decide to take things slow.
Lately, everything’s been moving so fast in our lives. Work, weekend plans, meetups, sex. Everything has become routine. Eat, sleep, work, fuck (if we have the energy), repeat. It’s grated on our nerves for a while, and things have become tense. We hate that. We don’t want to be that couple that treats our intimate life like a chore. Something to tick off the to-do list to say we’ve done it.
So tonight, we take it slow. We don’t rush. We don’t push for the orgasms. They’ll come when they’re ready. In the meantime, we just take our time, slowly enjoying each other. It starts with a single kiss. Slightly lingering, but altogether innocent. The next is not so innocent. It’s longer, your arms winding around my naked skin in bed, my hand curling around the back of your neck, pulling you deeper.
And deeper…and deeper…
You lazily roll me on top of you and sit us up, running your calloused, work-worn hands down the soft curves of my back, over my full rounded hips. Running your lips down my neck. You’ve always liked kissing my neck since you discovered it’s my sweet spot on our first date, all those years ago. How we’ve changed since we were bright, young things who thought we were invincible. Lines have since set around our eyes. The first signs of grey starting to come in around the hair at your temples. You’ve grown into your face, into your body, grown into a man since you were that lanky, cute nineteen-year-old I met on the beach one random day when I was eighteen. You’ve watched me grow into a woman, my hips widen, breasts swell, tummy grow and deplete, lines split across my skin like rising dough with every product of our love, now in college themselves.
How twenty-five years have changed us since that day on the beach; despite still having many, many years left, I hope. We’ve laboured and loved, thought we’d never make it at times, but we’re still here, together. We’ve learned that we are not invincible. You tweaked your knee on the job, and I get sciatica sometimes. You run to keep your cholesterol low, and I do Pilates since I now have tight hamstrings.
When I sink down onto you, it’s like coming home. With you, I’m always home. Even when you’re driving me mad. Even when you leave your slippers in the middle of the living room or stray mugs around the house, you’re my home. Wherever you are, I am home.
You grip my behind, guiding me in slow grinds as you moan into my mouth with our kiss. You look deep into my eyes, brushing a strand of hair from my face with that gentleness only I see fully. I see all the years, the farmer’s tan that’s bronzed your skin, the smile lines, and I caress your jaw with my fingers. The stubble scratches under the pads, and you draw me into kiss after kiss, grind after grind, pouring all our imperfect love into it. You guide us back down to the mattress, you lying flat, holding me close on top, consumed with more kisses as we move, bit by bit. I love feeling the vibrations in your chest as you moan a little louder, your hips flexing a little harder as I rock back down to the hilt of your cock.
The pleasure gradually building sends sweet spasms between my legs, my walls hugging tighter around you, resting in the comfort of your arms. I want to go faster; we both do, but we don’t. We need this to last. We want, need, to savour every moment, every caress of skin on skin, every sweet whisper from your parted lips. I tremble in your arms. It feels so good. I’ve always loved the lazy days when we can just take our time like this. No rushing, no appointments to get to. Your hold grows tighter, hands clamouring at my waist, my hips, my backside, fingers digging into the soft flesh as we both near the crest we took so much care to build. A flame growing from the spark, to embers, small flame, until it’s a steady, glowing light. I clutch your shoulders, burying my whimpers in your shoulder as you cry out into the room.
We don’t part as we catch our breath. Instead, you smile faintly down at me, cupping my cheek, eyes shining.
“I love you,” you whisper, and draw me into a sweet, tender kiss.
