Evie lay on her side, tucked up snuggly in her bed at home. The day had gone by so fast and she began to doze, her mind spun with memories.
The morning with Jack had been wonderful. Talking, breakfast, the kiss, all a far cry from the sneaky walk of shame she envisioned for herself when she woke up. He had genuinely surprised her. She smiled to herself fondly at their joking and his charming, almost all-American-boy smile. She hadn’t enjoyed a man’s company so much in a long time.
Her phone pinged by her pillow and she turned on the screen.
Hey, I hope you’re ok. I really enjoyed this morning. Are you free for dinner tomorrow night?
Sleep well.

The smile already plastered on Evie’s face grew even wider at his message. The thought of enjoying his company again so soon made butterflies flutter in her stomach again. They hadn’t really stopped since she first saw him at the hotel. Propping herself up on her elbow, she began to type a reply.

Jack blew out a nervous breath as he put his phone back on his desk and returned to the work on his laptop. He couldn’t figure out why he was so nervous, it was obvious him and Evie liked each other.
But it had been a while since he properly asked a woman he liked on a date, he thought. Yes, he’d dated, but usually set ups by friends he’d reluctantly agreed to. Evie was different. He actually liked her, though her barely dared admit it to himself.
Her cute doe eyes and innocent demeanour made him flush with a fiery desire to have her splitting apart under him again. Why he was so drawn to her? He still didn’t know.
But one things was for certain: he needed to see her again. She’d been plaguing his thoughts since they parted ways that morning, the delightful memory of her fairy lips on his cheek replaying wonderfully through his mind.
Yet doubt still tugged at his insides. He still couldn’t get too close. Not matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t let his guard down, he didn’t have it in him. Not after what happened with Abigail –
Jack shook his head and banished the thought from his mind. As he did, his phone buzzed. As he picked it up, Evie’s name flashed on the screen.
Me too 😊 I’d love to go for dinner. You have a good night’s sleep too.

A bright smile spread across Jack’s cheeks. He would certainly sleep well that night.
