Musings on exploring BDSM/Kink – Part 9

I went on a Kindle book sample spree. The bookworm in me well and truly sprung out today!

I’ve been wanting to get a hold of some books on BDSM, D/s etc. for quite a while so today I took the plunge. I decided on samples as I’d rather read and see what I think before parting with my cash. Ideally I don’t want it to be a case of, “well that’s £7.99 I’m not getting back!”

I’ve gone from first person account non-fiction on submission to a historical fiction where the main theme is domestic discipline. I haven’t read a book with those themes so I figured it would be interesting to look at. That and the one reviewer it had gave it one star, branding the book, “rubbish.” I want to see it if lives up to its negative review or not!

Here are some of the books I got samples of.

  • The Surrendered Wife  – This one I’ve seen referred to by Naughty Nora quite a few times and what I heard really triggered my curiosity!
  • Screw The Roses, Bring Me The Thorns – From what I’ve gathered from other bloggers that this is a good read.
  • The Diary of a Submissive – I’ve been curious about this one for a while. The cover art alone was enough to sell me!
  • Bound To Please – Another first person account of being submissive. Again, the cover art is gorgeous!
  • The Story of O – To be honest, I really don’t think I’ll like this one, but I know this is a book that is very much talked about, so I can’t leave it out.

So fingers crossed, if I like the samples enough to go for the full versions they’ll make for good reading! If anyone’s got any other recommendations, feel free to drop a comment! 🙂

All my love,

Violet xx

  1. If you are looking at the other side of things, there aren’t a ton of options, but here are a few: Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Exit to Eden by Anne Rice (This isn’t wholly F/m as it covers M/f, F/f, and M/m as well but the love story is hetero). The English Governess by John Glassco. There is another one linked to that, Harriet Marwood, Governess, but that isn’t available in a digital format, nor have I read it yet although I did order it from ebay last week. Some of these are out there on PDF. A few of them are already free/cheap.
    Take care.
