A Husband’s Promise

As I hold you in my arms
My beautiful wife on our wedding night
I promise to honour and cherish you for the rest of my life
The day I met you, a blessing walked in to my life
Time stopped, one look and I knew
“This is my wife”
You made me want to be a better man
The person I needed to be
Even now, I still wonder
What an angel like you sees in a jerk like me!
I love all about you
Your adorable, light-hearted laugh
The pure, boundless love for all who come your way
That one cute, stubborn curl that just won’t stay in place
Your wide-eyed wonder at the world that through you
I grew to love again
The soft curve in the belly that will one day carry our child
I promise, my love
To always stay by your side
To be the best husband and father I can be
To laugh with you through the good times
Carry you through the bad
Hold you close, tell you I love you
Even on the days when we have to work at it
I will love you until my dying breath
You have given me the world
I promise to you
The angel laid across my chest
I will never let you go
My heart and soul belongs to you

This is what both marriage partners are saying when they marry and yet so many stop looking at their beloved in that way—sometimes really early in the relationship. I try so hard not to take my Queen for granted. I try so hard to demonstrate my love. We work so hard to keep things fresh and exciting. I love this poem. Thanks

    1. Thank you! 😀 I agree, it’s always unfortunate when that happens 😢 It seems today in some cases more’s placed on the material aspects of the wedding then what it’s actually about: Two people who love each other wanting to make a lifetime commitment.
Keeping the romance alive is so important. Your Queen’s very lucky to have such a loving husband! 😊
